Hi, I am Kunal Kampani - a freelance photographer based out of Mumbai, India.
Photography came much later to me in life, before which I worked for 2 advertising agencies. Contract advertising in Mumbai and Ogilvy in Bangalore.
As the interests towards photography as a medium grew, I decided to take it up professionally.
Studying at Light and Life academy in Ooty, set the foundation for me to be a photographer and enter the world professionally.
Over the years my introduction to the works of Crewdson, Fan Ho, Alex Webb, Josef Koudelka, Christopher Doyle and many more have inspired me to take a more cinematic and storytelling approach towards photography.
I love working through the process of building an image that includes working with various technicians, talents, different sets and locations around India and abroad.
Recently I have also diversified into films, shooting and directing "Khoon, Kaatil aur Suraag" - an experimental short film that has been screened at prestigious films festivals such as Fantastic Fest in the Austin (USA), the London Short film festival, the Indian International short film festival among many others.
